01Measure the device and target fit
Record the laptop’s actual length, width and thickness, plus its make and model. Screen diagonal alone does not define the device’s exterior dimensions. Decide whether the sleeve should fit closely or leave room for a case; confirm the finished compartment with a sample.
02Define protection and construction
Specify whether the laptop compartment is separate, where padding is required, how the bottom and seams should be reinforced, and whether the bag needs a divider or document sleeve. Do not assume a listing image confirms padding thickness or drop protection.
03Choose outer material and lining
State the target fabric or material, lining, color and any weight or hand-feel preference. If water resistance, abrasion or another performance matters, name the requirement and ask which test or sample review can verify it.
04Map pockets and carry details
List the items carried with the laptop: charger, mouse, notebook, documents or bottle. Mark pocket count, placement and access direction. Confirm handle drop, shoulder-strap length, attachment points, zipper and hardware against the intended use.
